Whilst there are more male cabinet members in parliament, the level of female participation in politics is on the up. There are other features of politics in the British system, such as the House of Lords, which, even if the title doesn't suggest, likewise has female members. The British system is special in the fact that the monarch is the official head of the country, although the crown has no tangible power in the running of the government, it is today more of a figure head status.
